About Mark
THE GLIMPSE WAY
“A good photograph is not one that looks perfect,
but one that still feels like you years later.”
I’m Mark, the photographer behind Glimpse Studio. Based in Birmingham, I work with Mandarin- and English-speaking couples in London, Edinburgh and across the UK. Before a shoot, I map daylight, crowds, walking time, wardrobe changes and a practical wet-weather route into one clear plan.
On the day, I guide through walking, conversation and simple actions. When organisation is needed, I am specific; when something real is unfolding, I step back rather than asking it to happen again for the camera.
Analogue coverage includes both 35mm and 120 medium-format film, photographed alongside digital. Film keeps its unrepeatable colour and grain; digital protects the completeness and reliability of the full story.

Tell me your date, city and the feeling you hope to remember. We begin by making sure we are the right fit.

We shape the plan
Route, wardrobe, hair and make-up, and a wet-weather alternative are considered in advance, so the day itself can feel easy.

Gentle direction, honest moments
You never need to memorise poses. I offer clear prompts while leaving room for what cannot be arranged.

Your story, delivered with care
Digital images are fully edited and film is developed and scanned by me, with a clear and lasting final delivery.

A few things
you may want to ask.
We have never posed for photographs. Is that a problem?
Not at all — that is true for most of my couples. I guide you through movement, conversation and simple actions, without placing everyone into the same set of poses.
What happens if it rains?
We plan a wet-weather route around the city and season. Light rain can feel wonderfully cinematic; unsafe or unsuitable weather is handled according to the agreed contingency plan.
Can film fail?
Film cannot be reviewed on the spot, but exposure, storage and development follow a reliable process. Digital coverage runs alongside it, so surprise and dependability can coexist.
How far ahead should we book?
Popular weekends and peak-season dates are best discussed early. Send your date and city first, and I can advise around availability, light and route.
How do the edited gallery and retouched images differ?
The colour-corrected JPEG gallery receives overall colour and basic adjustments, ready to revisit the story and choose your favourites. Retouched images receive individual work on skin, local light, colour and composition. Delivery is in JPEGs and digital film scans, not RAW files.
When will we receive our photographs?
Gallery, selection, retouching and video milestones are set out in writing before booking. Gallery delivery and your confirmed selection begin different stages; the dates are agreed around your service and shoot.
